Lahore: 09 December 2025 – The Wafaqi Mohtasib, Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi has said that recognition and appreciation of brilliant performance always leads to healthy competition, which in turn promotes professional excellence, hard work and efficiency.

            He was addressing a simple but impressive ceremony held at the Wafaqi Mohtasib Regional Office, Lahore today, in connection with distribution of awards and certificates to the Officers of the Punjab Region who have excelled in redressing public complaints besides other aspects during the current year 2025. ‘This unprecedented step is aimed at encouraging the Officers and Staff of this national institution to redouble their efforts for serving the public and retaining their trust and confidence’, he observed.

            He informed that his office settled complaints to the tune of Rs.9.46 billion in financial terms during the year, adding that throughout the year as many as 102,189 complaints relating to maladministration of the federal agencies have been addressed in the various offices located across the Punjab province. The ceremony was attended by the Officers belonging to Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Multan, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and D.G. Khan Offices. The number of complaints redressed during 2025 are 21.42% higher than the complaints resolved in the previous year.

            It may be further informed that a high-powered Committee comprising senior Officers of the Wafaqi Mohtasib’s office has been constituted by the Wafaqi Mohtasib to make recommendations for giving away the merit-based awards against a rigorous criteria. The sole purpose of instituting the award scheme is to promote healthy competition amongst officers and staff members. The criteria included number of complaints redressed, findings given, Khuli Katcheries held, Inspection Visits carried out etc. This scheme is likely to pay rich dividends with regard to promoting efficiency and a quest for excellence in the Wafaqi Mohtasib offices located in various regions and provinces.
